Belgian company Reynaers is not a brand that chases market leaders, trying to break into the premium segment from below. It is one of those manufacturers whose engineering solutions serve as a benchmark for ambitious young brands across Europe. A family company from Duffel, since the mid-1960s, has been shaping standards in aluminum glazing — from thermal insulation to system compatibility across decades. Its portfolio covers windows, sliding systems, facades, verandas, winter gardens, and solar shading — practically the entire spectrum of architectural aluminum solutions.
Company Origins
Reynaers was founded in 1965 by Jan Reynaers in the Belgian town of Duffel. From the very beginning, the focus was on an in-house aluminum window and door system — so technologically advanced and easy to assemble that even other aluminum fabricators began buying it. The early years were tough: the company remained small, and every spending decision had to be carefully weighed.
As early as 1967, Reynaers developed a line of thermally broken profiles — a response to growing energy-saving requirements. The success of this development led to the creation of a separate production company dedicated to profile insulation, and for decades defined the brand’s technological signature. In 1969, the first steps were taken to expand beyond Belgium.
However, on September 20, 1973, Jan Reynaers died in a car accident. Management passed to his family: first to his wife, and later to his son Erik Reynaers. The following years were a test of resilience. Thanks to the loyalty of customers and employees, the company not only survived but transformed into a stable organization ready for international growth.
As demand grew, subsidiaries opened in Ireland, Germany, France, and the United Kingdom. In the early 1990s, Reynaers entered Eastern European markets — with first sales in Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, the Baltic states, Romania, Russia, and Ukraine. In 2009, a logistics center in the Kyiv region began serving most of the post-Soviet countries: Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Moldova, Uzbekistan, and Armenia. Simultaneously, the company strengthened its presence in Africa through offices in Egypt, Algeria, and Morocco.
Today, Reynaers remains a family business. The company employs more than 2,300 people, with representative offices in 40 countries, and exports to over 70 countries across five continents. Annual turnover in 2019 reached €580 million.
Manufacturing
Reynaers’ approach to manufacturing differs from the «everything under one roof» model. The company does not own the entire cycle from extrusion to coating. Instead, it deeply controls the most critical link — profile thermal insulation.
Having proven with its first thermally broken line how crucial quality insulation is, Reynaers created a separate production unit dedicated specifically to this task. Most manufacturers purchase polyamide thermal breaks from third parties, but the Belgians have spent decades developing their own expertise in thermal break technology.
Profile coating is handled through a network of partners certified under the European Qualicoat standard, which guarantees high resistance of the coating to UV exposure and a long service life regardless of the country of production. Additionally, at the Kyiv logistics center, for products destined for CIS countries, an additional proprietary surface treatment is applied: every batch undergoes quality control according to internal methods before being shipped to sites.
A significant portion of Reynaers’ aluminum systems are made from recycled metal. Aluminum is convenient because it does not lose its properties after repeated remelting, meaning the ecological footprint is reduced without compromising the technical characteristics of the finished profile.
The company offers a ten-year warranty on the profiles, paint finish, and thermal insulation — a level characteristic of the premium segment. ISO 9001 certification was obtained in the early 1990s: for the construction industry at that time, this was one of the earliest confirmations of a mature quality management system.
Market Position
While young Eastern European manufacturers typically enter the market through a favorable performance-to-price ratio, Reynaers occupies a fundamentally different position. It is one of the benchmarks of the premium segment — alongside German brands like Schüco. It is to the indicators of such companies that manufacturers from Poland or Belarus aspire when comparing mullion width, thermal insulation, and design against «German and Belgian competitors.»
For the buyer, this changes the selection logic. Reynaers is not about maximum economy, but about half a century of reputation, compatibility of new systems with older series, and a global network of installation partners. It is precisely compatibility that becomes a decisive argument in the renovation of buildings originally glazed with Reynaers profiles many years ago: the architect can seamlessly integrate modern structures into the existing geometry without compromising aesthetics or thermal performance.
Window Systems
Reynaers’ window lineup is built on a modular principle: a common technical platform on which different levels of thermal insulation and design are assembled, rather than separate systems for each application.
CS 77 and CS 86 — the core platform for windows and doors, the foundation of a significant portion of the portfolio. CS 86-HI is a high-insulation version whose technical solutions later became the basis for the premium aluminum-wood Sensity line (see below).
SL 38 — a narrow-profile system for windows and balcony doors, designed for cases where the architectural brief demands minimal visible lines.
MasterLine 8 — the flagship for energy-efficient construction
MasterLine 8 combines a wide choice of opening types, design variants, and three levels of thermal insulation within a single architectural concept. Frame width is 119 mm.
Three insulation levels: Standard with Uf 1.9 W/(m²·K), High Insulation with Uf 1.5–1.6 W/(m²·K), and High Insulation+ with Uf 1.2 W/(m²·K) — the last meeting passive house requirements. The HI+ version uses special insulating materials with a low-emissivity foil that reflects and retains heat inside the profile. The central seal made of thermoplastic elastomer combined with expanded polyethylene terephthalate provides an additional margin of airtightness.
Three design options — Functional, Deco, and Renaissance — allow the same technical platform to be adapted to different architectural styles: from clean straight lines to solutions that replicate classic wooden window mullions. For minimalist facades, a concealed-sash version (Hidden Vent) is available: from the outside, the window appears as a fixed, non-opening element, while actually functioning as an opening unit.
Technical parameters: water tightness up to 1650 Pa — twice the standard requirement; balcony door with a low threshold of 20 mm; sashes available in several widths, with heights up to 3 meters.
MasterLine 10 — the top tier
Where thermal insulation and security requirements exceed even the HI+ standard, MasterLine 10 comes into play. This system delivers Uf from 0.8 W/(m²·K), enabling panoramic glazing with enhanced burglar resistance. It is encountered less frequently in the post-Soviet market, but it defines the upper boundary of what Reynaers offers in the window segment.
Sensity — aluminum outside, wood inside
This is a premium direction that grew out of the CS 86-HI thermal platform. On the outside, it is a standard thermally broken aluminum profile capable of withstanding any weather load. Inside — solid Italian wood, carefully selected by the company’s designers. Thus, Sensity solves a long-standing demand from architects and clients: to achieve a warm, lively interior without sacrificing the durability and minimal maintenance that aluminum provides on the street side. It is primarily used in premium residential projects — private homes and apartments where interior aesthetics matter no less than technical performance.
Sliding Systems
Hi-Finity — the flagship with a nearly invisible profile
Hi-Finity is described briefly: a wall of transparent glass from floor to ceiling. It is the slimmest visible profile in Reynaers’ sliding system lineup while maintaining full thermal insulation — the system is warm, designed for year-round occupancy.
Despite its lightweight silhouette, the structure carries IGUs weighing up to 500 kg. The profile is installed flush with the floor, with no threshold — no obstacles when transitioning between indoors and outdoors. Ventilation channels are hidden in an integrated concealed base channel, freeing the visible plane from technical details. At corners, the profile may be entirely absent — the sashes slide in both directions from the corner point without a fixed vertical element.
The color palette includes more than 450 shades and finishes: metallic, anodized, matte and glossy RAL colors, special coatings resistant to scratches and requiring no maintenance. Imitation of natural wood texture is available. The finishes are certified to both the American AAMA standard and the European Qualicoat — a rare combination reflecting the company’s presence on both continents.
MasterPatio — premium lift-and-slide system
MasterPatio is designed for integration with the MasterLine 8 window-and-door platform, forming a complete solution from floor to ceiling together with it. Maximum dimensions — 3600 × 3000 mm, frame depth 180 mm.
Thermal performance at passive house level: Uf 1.3 W/(m²·K). Sound insulation — 44 dB. Burglar resistance — RC2/WK2 up to RC3/WK3 depending on configuration. Water tightness reaches 1200 Pa — one of the best in its class. Most hardware components are concealed or recessed flush, preserving clean lines and giving the structure a premium minimalist appearance. The system is also designed with environmental production in mind: waste reduction is built into the technology itself.
CP 130-LS and CP 155 — main sliding systems
For projects where it is more important to get a reliable sliding construction at a reasonable price rather than maximum thermal insulation, CP 130-LS and CP 155 are designed.
CP 130-LS (Concept Patio 130) — the mid-range lift-and-slide system, compatible with CS 77 and MasterLine 8 platforms. Maximum sash weight — 300 kg, dimensions — up to 2700 × 2700 mm, burglar resistance WK2. The corner solution allows opening the space without a fixed corner element — the same architectural capability as Hi-Finity, but in a more accessible price class. Configurations with one, two, or three tracks are available.
CP 155 — a system for wider openings, compatible with the CS 86 platform, with insulation that allows its use in energy-efficient and passive buildings. According to a number of suppliers, the newer generation of sliding portals is gradually replacing it in the lineup.
Additional Formats
Beyond the main systems, Reynaers offers several specialized sliding solutions.
CF 77 — an accordion folding system: each sash width up to 1.2 m, height up to 4 m. Used where the architecture requires the opening to be fully cleared across its entire width, folding panels to one or both sides.
CP 45Pa — a lightweight sliding system without thermal insulation for unheated spaces: loggias, terraces, summer kitchens. Visible sash thickness — only 29 mm.
GP 51 — an all-glass sliding system without vertical mullions or posts. Used for glazing loggias, terraces, gazebos, and interior openings where maximum transparency is required without a visible aluminum frame between the glass panels.
Facade Systems
Concept Wall 50 — a mullion-transom facade system that does not lock the architect into a single configuration. The range includes ten variants: fire-rated modifications, enhanced thermal insulation versions, steel-reinforced solutions for increased loads, constructions for translucent roofs, as well as several types of opening elements — concealed, top-hung, and parallel-sliding.
Of particular note is the structural glazing available in three construction variants: IGUs are mounted either on structural silicone or on internal pressure profiles; in both cases, the exterior forms a continuous glass surface with no visible mullion lines.
Two flagship aesthetic versions:
CW 50-SL (Slim Line) — the interior visible part of the profile is reduced from the standard 50 mm to 15 mm, visually lightening the structure from the inside.
CW 50-HL (Horizontal Line) — an external decorative tapered profile that, depending on the orientation of the plates (horizontal or vertical), helps the architect visually stretch the building in length or height.
Technical parameters: thermal transmittance Uf from 0.8 W/(m²·K) depending on profile combination; sound insulation Rw up to 48 dB; air permeability up to 600 Pa (class A4); water tightness up to 900 Pa; burglar resistance WK2–WK3; visible exterior width — vertical joint 30 mm, horizontal decorative cover 50 mm. The system is designed for double-pane IGUs, making it applicable for energy-efficient and passive buildings.
An important nuance: the fire-rated configuration of CW 50 is not a separate product, but a standard configuration within the same system. This spares designers from switching between different product lines when safety requirements change — the same platform covers both standard and fire-rated applications.
CW 60 — a version with increased load-bearing capacity, designed for IGUs weighing up to 450 kg. Visible width from the outside and inside — 60 × 60 mm. The range includes four variants: functional, enhanced thermal insulation, structural glazing, and cassette structural glazing.
CW 86-EF — a unitized (modular) system, whose panels are fully assembled at the factory and delivered to the site as ready-made elements. This significantly reduces on-site installation time. Two types of glazing are available — cassette and structural, with the possibility of integrating opening windows and ventilation hatches, including with electric drive. Visible width — 86 mm outside and 68 mm inside.
Additional Products
In addition to the main window and facade systems, Reynaers offers several auxiliary solutions that expand architectural possibilities.
RB Glass — a system of glass railings and balustrades. It addresses the mandatory requirement of any project with terraces, balconies, and stairs: to provide safe glazing without visually weighing down the structure.
Armored and burglar-resistant solutions. The geometry of certain Reynaers profiles includes an internal cavity for installing an armor panel. This allows high-level protective glazing to be realized without external boxes mounted over the standard frame, preserving the appearance of an ordinary window.
Solar shading systems. External solar shading structures, integrable with the company’s facade and window systems, reduce the heat load on the building and reduce the need for air conditioning — particularly relevant for projects with large glazed areas on southern and western facades.
